Creepy freewrites are what staying up late is for.

He was a horribly smart child. I do mean horribly. There was something in his mind that must have been pushed out of place to make room for all that analytical capacity. Horribly cruel, also; but without much easily assignable fault since after all he was only a child – and he tended to be right. Like, for example, when he said his father was never coming back. No one believed him, of course, though we all blamed him just a little. It felt like if he’d believed as well, it would have been possible, but his doubt cursed the situation beyond repair. Thinking back now, I wouldn’t put such a feat past him. He always seems to operate on a grand scale.

I think he must have been driven to erase the things which caused him pain. I think, truly, he meant to erase himself, but in his typical thorough manner he started by erasing his roots. And, since truth has entered the picture, I didn’t tell Dante to hide – it was Vergil.

Vergil, since then, has spent his entire life searching for his father. His father refuses to be found. Maybe it’s because he genuinely does fear him, but I wish he’d have the grace to join me in death — after both Sparda and I have been ‘erased,’ Vergil can finally finish what he set out to do. And that would be something like revenge.

I don’t think he’ll hurt Dante. He’s never been able to.

Dante still tells himself it was demons that killed me. And, in a way, he’s right.
