After last night’s HC post I want to write something explicit. That’s sort of a first. But for now, have this.
Nero is not a coffee snob, but he knows his shit. He has a french press and a vacuum brewer at home. His favorite thing to get at a cafe is a Cuban espresso or a sugared espresso. He prefers coffees from the Asia/Pacific growing region for their spiciness and earthiness. His favorite thing to eat alongside coffee is a torta de aceite.
Dante doesn’t drink coffee often — he can be kind of an energy drink junkie. When he does have coffee, he likes it fairly sweet, and doesn’t know enough about coffee to know it but always likes Latin American coffees best for their balance. At a cafe, he’ll order an extra-foamy ristretto latte (he wouldn’t order a cappuccino because it makes him feel like he’s paying for a cup of air). He likes to eat savory foods rather than sweet pastries alongside coffee.
Vergil loves bad coffee. He loves instant coffee, which baffles and sort of frightens Nero, who gives him a hard time over it frequently and constantly tries to break him of the habit by buying him good coffee. In terms of good coffee, Vergil’s favorite growing region is Africa, which produces coffee that’s brightly acidic and elegantly bitter like the skin of a walnut or the peel of a citrus fruit. At a cafe, he’ll order an americano or brewed coffee. He doesn’t really like having food alongside coffee.
